Naveen Jain: Entrepreneur

Ernst and Young and Albert Einstein Technology award nominee and winner Naveen Jain is the co-founder of Intelius. Intelius provides and markets intelligence reports, employee screens, background checks, anti-ID theft products, and other solutions to United States-based businesses and individual consumers.

But Intelius is not his sole company. As a matter of fact, he acquired the other half of his nomination at Ernst and Young when he was still operating his first company called InfoSpace. Among the several branded Internet properties that rely on InfoSpace for its yellow pages, stock quotes, and other online content are America Online, Lycos and Disney. Moreover, InfoSpace was one of the few that popularized wireless software in the 90s, making Information Week praise them as among the “Six People Who Will Change the Net.” With the inception of InfoSpace in 1996, Red Herring listed Naveen Jain, alongside Jeff Bezos and Rupert Murdoch, as 1997’s top entrepreneurs.

Since its foundation up to April of 2000, Naveen Jain has been acting as the chief executive officer of the company. Eventually, he resigned from InfoSpace in December of 2000.

Following the resignation, Jain set out to form Intelius in 2003. Through the company, he earned another nomination from Ernst and Young in 2006. That same year, Intelius was lauded Best New Company by the American Business Awards (or The Stevies). Ever since the recognition, the company has turned into a fixture of kinds in The Stevies. In addition, it almost obtained the Best New Product or Service award twice. Later in 2007, Naveen Jain’s Intelius was chosen as a nominee for the Most Innovative Company.

Headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, Jain’s company is one of Washington’s 150 premiere and privately held companies, as reported by Washington CEO Magazine. According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, it is among the Puget Sound district’s fastest developing private businesses. And it also ranked #8 in Deloitte and Touche’s list of Fast 50 Washington-based technology companies.
